Quirks

#1 Post by Mongrel »

What are some of your quirks? By "quirks" I mean eccentricities of character or habit.
For instance, in place of cursing, I make up nonsense words to describe my frustration(Glork Bruarrrrngh!) and I hate wearing shoes indo ors. I'm sure you guys can do better than that.
Let out your weirdness!

We all have a little bit of weirdness in us. My weirdness is that... hahahah well, I think I'm pretty weird.

When I'm trying to remember something while talking to someone I close one eye and look up with the other one.

OK I thought of one. You know that one-eye eyebrow raising thing? I can totally do that. But only if I wink the other eye at the same time.

Those are quirks? Then I have both of them, too. I also like to sit in weird positions like L from Death Note (reading which is what made me realize this is a quirk, too). My parents had 6 kids, 2 sets of girl-girl-boy with 10 years between the sets and ~2 years between kids in each set. I'm #5, and we 3 in the younger set all have the same quirk where we occasionally make random sound effects while we're doing things. What's really weird is sometimes we'll come out with the exact same sound effect at the exact same time for the same activity.

Oh, and I prefer to run than walk -- both inside and out. Which was okay when I was a kid, but it's harder for me to pull off now that I'm pushing 30. I tend to reserve it for my trips home from work/school. Gah, I guess I'm really quirky.

I have a friend that does that too. When confronted about that, he replied: 'Why do you walk?'

My quirks include but are not limited to:
Unusual expressions, usually involving the word 'monkey' (I blame that on Rikku from FF X)
Mixing swears on the rare chance I actually swear (ex. son of a damn it)
Replacing the word 'God' with 'guy' in sentences as not to offend anyone (at least in my mind)
Apologizing for burping, sneezing, etc even if no one else heard me or I'm the only one in the room
Answering everything with a joke or sarcasm
No socks, preferably no shoes (I blame karate)
Answering everything else with a quote or esoteric reference (I once used a Lucky Star line in a crowded room and only the friend that introduced me to Lucky Star got it)
When giving a serious answer, not giving all of the details... because I wasn't asked about those damn details! Next time ask!
As an American, I guess these next two count as quirks: I am always very polite, and I never lie.

These are all I can think of right now.

I tend to not notice music whatsoever.
Seriously.

Also, I randomly do really random stuff when bored. Just the other day, I went to the fridge, took out one of them shelve-like thingies, and started strumming it. T'was fun.
I need a new sig. >_>

I always look behind the shower curtain before I use the bathroom. My house, anyone's house. I always have to look behind the shower curtain. I'm not sure what I'm looking for, but I know I haven't it yet. Thank goodness.

I talk to myself when I'm trying on clothes. It's weird. I had no idea that I did until a friend pointed it out. Actually, I just plain talk to myself. Maybe there is something wrong with me

I can't have my foods touch each other on a plate. Yuck. If I use gravy, for example, then the gravy has to stay on my potatoes even if I use it on something else. God forbid my potato gravy touches my chicken or it's gravy.

Those are the ones that come to mind first. Yay for our quirkiness!

:o You do that too?!?!?! My friends have almost bought me those TV-dinner plates with the compartments because I'm so picky about my foods touching.

:o Me tooo! lol. It tends to get me laughed at by family when they notice lol.

Umm, i like my money to all face the same way. I'm paranoid about being late to anything even if it dosent really matter. [I seriously think band did that one to me]. OOoh, and mess with my flute, you die. :D

I remembered another one. I almost always drive barefoot, even in winter (well, then it's usually sock-footed).

Regan, I check the shower curtain when I'm home alone. I also try not to look at mirrors in the dark because of the whole Bloody Mary/Candyman thing.

I meow...a lot...my husband calls me Katie Kat because of it.

We tend to use the syllables gar, nar, bar, and dar in random sequence to fill the silence.

I have to sleep with covers on, regardless of how warm it is.

I like to have schedules for everything.

Popping my knuckles and wrists.

And numerous other ones, I'm sure.

Let's see...

Cracking my knuckles.
Randomly pointing out pitch and out of tuneness of objects (probably because I have perfect pitch.)
When I hear something really stupid or unreal, I raise my right eyebrow.
I walk in step with people around me.
If I hear a music piece I know I'll start to conduct.

I'm sure I'll think of others.

I'm pretty sure any "Quirk" of my character could be more accurately described as "symptom of craziness".

My quirks... hmm...

Sticking out my tounge when I concentrate. 90% of my family does this.

I cover up when sleeping no matter what, too. I also refuse to wear socks to bed.

I tune out EVERYTHING when I'm reading.

I'm practically OCD about checking my locks on my doors and windows when I leave my apartment, go to sleep or shower... but hey, I live alone.

I'm sure there's more, but that's enough for now. :D
