I know a lot of people have been complaining about Neo lately. Neocash, gearing the site toward younger and younger players, no respect or rewards for older players. But I am asking you: what would be the final drop for you? At what point would you just say, hey, it's been good, but now Neopets has just become too messed up, and I quit.

For me personally, and for many other players probably, it would be if Neo became an entirely paying site. I can understand Neocash. A lot of work is put into the site, people have to make great efforts to ensure everything keeps running smoothly, they give us great plots (admittedly, the Petpet one is rather weak), and new games are released constantly. These people deserve to be payed for their efforts, and if people playing the site want to pay for exclusive stuff, then fine. No one is forcing you to buy it, and what you get for free is still great.
As for the gearing toward the younger players. I think that, for the moment at least, people are overreacting. TNT is releasing some content for younger players, but they are not neglecting the older ones. We had a few good plots recently, and even if the major part of the site becomes orientated toward younger players, would a child-friendly site with simple games and where you can take care of pets be that much less fun? The core concept of Neopets is inalterable.
No, for me the final straw would have to be making Neo pay-only. Still, I don't see this happening any time soon, so I think I'm good for a while.

Well, these are my 2 cents, show me yours.

Turning into a payment site, for sure. I hardly use the site anymore, but I do enjoy some of the games and the plots. I wouldn't even think about paying, if it came down to that. I'd leave.

I've bought things from the NCMall. I have no issues with Neocash items that do not affect game play... but if it became a pay for play site, totally, I'd give it up.

Also... if I lost my account, I'd be gone. My main account is what makes the game fun - I like building it up and watching it grow. I have no desire to start at the bottom and scrape my way up again. Too much work has gone into what I currently have. Since Neo is *already* a guilty pleasure, I couldn't live with myself if I started all over again.

I dunno. I think the last straw may have already happened, but it's a gradual thing for me--the site layout, and the redesigns...well, I hate change and Neopets is just not very fun for me anymore. (Truth be told, them having a layout unfriendly to 800x600 users continues to tick me off, even if we are a very small percentage of users.)
If Neopets became pay-to-play, or they froze my account, or my account got hacked, I would not try to start over. If they took down Invasion of Meridell and Neoquest the time I spend on the site would be drastically reduced. I hardly even bother to collect my dailies anymore. So the last straw for me has probably already come and gone.

Mmm... I guess I hadn't considered that. My account is not uber by any means, but I worked for it. I have about 1.5 mil, stocks and bank combined, I've got a size 68 gallery that I worked damn hard for, and 35 months is nothing to be sneered at either. Losing my account would probably mean I wouldn't be back either.

I think, like Moongewl, it's already happened for me. *pokes siggy* It's the fact that TNT just doesn't seem to care about the site or the players anymore. Daily Dare was such a huge site event, and for us to be over 5 months out since prizes were awarded but still have the second-place winners prizeless is just beyond ridiculous.

I still go on and do a few dailies (the free ones, excluding meteor/jelly/Altador plot) and invest in the stockmarket, but I don't really do much else. I'll probably continue to do plots, and I might get more active in playing games if I were to get bored, but I doubt I'll ever be as active as I was pre-DD... and I'm not sure I'll ever participate in another DD.

If my account went poof, I'd definitely not make another one. Nor would I ever pay to play.

I dunno. I still pay for premium, even though I rarely use the site.

I think it would be if I lost my account. There's no way on earth I would rebuild it from scratch - I've already had to do that once.

I don't play a lot anymore - the odd game here and there, investing in the stockmarket when I can, and plots when they're out. It just doesn't have the same appeal to me anymore, and I don't have the time to dedicate solely to Neo.

Gone, forever.

If I lost my account I'd never go back, but the thing is I hardly participate anymore for the reasons already cited. It's just a crap site. Five years ago it was good. Now it isn't. The turning point for me came when Neopets changed ownership and became ads infested.

I'd have to say that the only thing that would really make me have to leave would be if it became pay only, and that would only be because I wouldn't be able to play anymore... What can I say...I like my pets and stuff too much to leave for anything that wasn't huge. I suppose if I got unfairly frozen and they just wouldn't give my account back, I'd leave...but again, it's gotta be something huge.

The only thing that will make me leave forever is when the site becomes P2P. Or if there are images right in the middle of a page as you scroll down that advertise something about being premium. And right in the middle as in the main part of the page, like when going to the Snowager and getting something, right after the Snowager's image, it's a freaking huge 900x700 animated gif of the Space Faerie with text like "Go Premium for the best benefits!" or a flash embed that has a sad neopet like a Hissi that slithers to the NC Mall and when it goes out, it's in that black space armor thing, flying around like it's happy.

I've nothing against the Mall or Premium people as the site needs money to continue and there's the servers too, but scrolling down and seeing a huge ad in bright flashy colors that you cannot block w/o blocking all the Neopets images (or downloading a plug-in for the browser or something) is just.... Well, it would make me angry. I think I would just slam my fists against the keyboard instead of leaving, but I won't know until TNT decides to do it. Hopefully that'll never happen.

Pay to play, and if my account was frozen like everyone else has said. I don't have money to spare for eating out, I certainly can't pay for an online hobby. If I was frozen, I'd probably play a little bit on a side while trying to get my main back, but if it looked hopeless I'd leave. I've made quite the fortune, plus some items that are skyrocketing in value... losing those would make me *poof*. Similarly, if a glitch made me lose all that.

Also if they continue the cutification and force my unconverted pets to converted... give everything giant sparkly anime eyes etc... I'm not sure about quit, it'd depend on the extent. I'm still mad that they changed my Darigan Kougra barely a month after I saved up to paint it. The first conversion, not the most recent. This is what I originally paid for years ago:

More recently and more likely, I've noticed some commercials in the flash games themselves. I can't load them, which makes me have to restart and hope that there isn't a commercial on this try. If they make it so that there is a commercial in every single game window you ever open, I will throw a tantrum and quit.

What a depressing poll!

I'm actually partially walking out right now. I got my 4th warning yesterday (my fourth since March  ) for saying "AIM" and "MSN" in a post (either that or mentioning PPT in a topic title). Either way, it was for a stupid reason (just like my other ones) and I feel that I'm fighting a losing battle with the mods. They obviously don't like me, so I really don't know why I am still playing. I'll still log on to zap my pets and train them, but that's going to be about it :(

The first time I saw all of the new changes, I thought that was the answer to this poll.

However... I really don't think any one thing could do that.
Sure, I could stop chatting with my neofriends if they angered me enough. But it'd be more temporary. I'd most likely eventually come back.

My account getting frozen would fail. Seeing as I'm extremely obsessive about following the rules, I'd be beyond angry if I was falsely accused or someone got into my account.

TNT could make it pay to play, and really cutesy... but sadly, the only way I'd probably leave for good is if I could find something that captured my attention more and I got /really/ fed up.

It would take a total destruction of the activities I participate in, and the inability to talk to anyone. Anything less then that, and I'd probably still visit on occasion.

Oh great. XD

-will be an 80 year old playing neopets-

I would agree with some people and say the only thing that would keep me from coming back is if it became a pay-only site. If my account was frozen, that would cause me to walk away as well...it would be pretty much 7 years of pure attention (never had a side account until a few months ago, to organize a bit) out the window. I couldn't (and wouldn't) start over.

Not that I'm overly happy with the site right now, but I'm a creature of habit and playing Neopets is a habit I've had over 7 years now. :) If I get really frustrated over it, I just kinda naturally stop playing it for awhile, then slowly start checking things and doing dailies again.

Unfortunately, I think I'm already beyond the point of ever being as "into" it as I first was. Now I have more of a passing interest, and am more concerned with the people I meet and talk to about it (ex: here! haha) than the game itself.
