I apologize if this is the wrong board, but I wasn't quite sure where to go with this. I tried going to neoitems.net earlier today, and I got a message saying it was down for maintanence. I just went back there a little while ago, and I got a little popup telling me to join a certain website for neopets stuff. (I've never heard of this web site before now.) It was one of those things where you actually have to click okay for it to let you into the site. My question is, does anyone know anything about this, and is it something I should be concerned about?

I'm guessing that the neoitems.net site has been cracked, and that the popup was inserted by someone who's a heck of a lot smarter than the average scammer.

A global reminder to players: NEVER sign up for or download a neopets "program." Never join a website that advertises them. And never, never, give out your username/pass.

That's what I was concerned about. Is there anything I should do, other than changing all of my passwords?

If you didn't actually VISIT draik.net and sign up for programs, you should be just fine.

Changing passwords regularly is a good idea anyway :D

Thanks, that's a relief. :) I got out of neoitems as soon as I saw that popup, so I wasn't sure how much actually happened in those few seconds. I hope they can fix the site soon.

Out of curiosity, I just now went to neoitems dot net, and it now only says, "temporarily down for maintenance!" Hopefully, they'll be back up soon.

I remember it was on a long haitus when the main page(s) were not really being updated. During that time, the item database would still get updated with new items, though. It's been back and actively being updated for a while now. It would be a shame for neoitems dot net to go away.

VirtualMetal - do you have a source for that info?

I agree that it would be a huge shame if neoitems.net went down. I have been using that website since forever for finding any items in a particular group.

Especially useful for mallers.

I can't check neoitems to make a comparison, but for jellyneo's item database totally replaced my use of neoitems many months back. You don't have to log in, you can sort by categories, they usually have generally up to date prices on things and you can make lists. I also just think the lay out is nicer.

I looked but can't come up with anything sorry. I just remember reading something along those lines but I could easily be mistaken.

Update: neoitems.net is back up and running!

It looks like it is now focused only on items. The "fluff" is gone and member logins are no longer required to search the database. The search appears to work exactly the same way and the item info still contains neo-links to the Shop Wizard, Trading Post, Auctions, SDB & Neopets Search.

Glad they're back.

That must have been what I'd read. At least they still kept the Item DB up.

I'm glad they did that. I was mighty confused previously in the past when they required registration and had all that extra stuff.
