First time watching it and boy was it fun. Everything is so over-the-top but it's great when you have a Eurovision party and have all the attendees dress up according to the theme.

Eurovision 2009
Did anyone watch Eurovision 2009? I can't believe Norway won!! It was a strong performance by them but there were better candidates out there. The number of times they were awarded top marks by other countries is a bit suspicious for me.

Think X-Factor, American Idol, whatever, but Europe-wide. Each country picks one act and they all compete.ginny-ROX wrote:what is eurovision
Erm, Norway's is catchy after you listen to it a lot. Azerbaijan's has gotten stuck in my head like superglue, same for Albania's and Romania's. XDD
And I wish people would stop singing in English instead of the national language. The more people that sing in English, the harder it is for those that don't to get points. If everyone sang in their own language it'd be a lot fairer in general. Plus the fact that's its supposed to be international and all, it's kinda spoilt by everyone singing in the one language.

Adapted because I'm too lazy to write up an original post. XDHelena wrote:And I wish people wouldstop singing in English instead of the national languagestart singing heavier songs. Russia's made me laugh...with the crying 'Nothing Compares To You'-style video playing in the background.

that's me.
Re: Eurovision 2009
They must have done something to break up the voting blocs, considering that the highest-placing Balkan country was Bosnia in 9th.
But that's not to say I don't think Norway's awesome. 387 points. Holy schnapps.

You guys... don't get Eurovision? Oh God... you have all just lost half your lives!!
It's like the best song contest ever! So over the top but so fun. It launched Celine Dion and ABBA into international fame.
