Recently I have developed a mild cough. Didn't bother me too much, so I ignored it. Today, however, I woke up with a BAD cough. And as an added bonus, my "friend" the Cough invited its sidekick along, the Fever.

Is it possible to catch fever by walking behind someone by a distance of one/two feet for less than 2 minutes?

I felt much better after some rest several hours ago, but now it's returning. Credit goes to my family who can't give me a moment's peace of rest. My mother keeps on asking me to do things and chores and I gave up trying to sleep so I'm sitting here doing some revision for my trials which is two days away [which I'm not prepared for]. I'm trying to get a little shut eye on the table, because apparently if I try to sleep in bed my parents will find excuses to wake me up and such. HOWEVER, my sister now has the TV stubbornly on and refuses to turn it down, and there's no other suitable place to study, so I'm getting all frustrated. I can't study while I'm sick but I can't sleep either.

I know I'm starting to rant now but I honestly can't think clearly. My mind is all distracted and such I can't be bothered with anything else. Cough still remains though, and it's getting worse. I know laughter are among the things that triggers a painful coughing fit, so I'd best try not to even giggle. It hurts so bad each time I cough, and I think I can taste blood now. This isn't good, with my mock exams two days later.

Do you parents know you have a fever? If they don't make sure you tell them. Once people get to the point of having a bad fever they need to rest or things will usually only continue to go down-hill. Other than that, I hope you do manage to get a moments rest soon and I hope you start feeling better soon *hugs*

Thank you for your advice. I needed to talk to someone about this. Yes, they do know I have a fever, that is why I don't get why they keep on keeping me from sleeping.

Sorry to hear that :(

Although I hate to suggest it you could take some pain-killers with paracetamol in them, they can be good for colds and flu and supposedly they can help to reduce fever too. Taking them won't necessarily solve the problem completely but they might help to make you a little more comfortable until you can actually go to bed for the night. You may also want to quickly check with your parents about taking them though and if you've taken any other medications in the last few hours just be careful about how often you're supposed to take them.

When sick you don't study, not just because you have an excuse not to, but the stress probably won't help. Tell your parents, see a doctor, and lock your sister in a box so you can sleep.

Just a side question but do you go delirious when fevered?

Another reason not to study when you're too sick is that many people can only recall information that they studied when they're in the same state of mind as they were in when they were learning it. It might be in your best interest to remain sick until such time as you no longer need the information.

If you're not in the commonwealth, paracetamol is called Tylenol.

If your sister is really bugging you that much, tell her to quit or you'll start coughing on her. If you have the Plague, that could be an issue that'll bite you in the butt later, but I'm sure you don't.

Actually, when you get a fever, you may go delirious. You may even get hallucinations. Fortunately, this only happens in extreme cases of fever.

Glass Miracle? I hope you feel better. Drink lots of water and try to discreetly sleep.

Well, since the trial mean so much, you could explain to your family just how important it means, and that because of your cold it now gets even harder to concentrate so if you could get some time to get ready, it would be greatly appreciative.

If that doesn't work, compromise. Say you'll do chores or give up T.V. time for a while AFTER you get to study fo trials.

Good luck, and I wish you well on the trials!

LOL, well, nope, I don't go delirious, never did anyway. XD

Anyway, thanks for the wishes guys, I'm much, much better now. Fever has completely vanished though cough still remains. Some medicine will take care of it.

I would sugest some warm milk, coltsfoot tea forthe cough, and for he fever white willow bark. Also, why don't you ask your family to leave you alone for a while so you can sleep/study. Tell the how bad you are feeling, and if they keep badgerin gyou, then do the chores, do it as quickly as possible, and then says something like "I have a exam in a few days, and I really need to study" Then go to your rooom or something and study/sleep. I know this might not be very helpful......But I hope it is. :) Hope you get better soon!

Oh, how delirious I get when feverish... I wake up in the middle of the night and start screeming sometimes. I don't have a feeling in my hands, I feel like my tounge is swollen, and that freaky stuff is happening. I try everything to make it go away, wash my face with water, cold shower, but it passes by itself. It only happens when I have a really high fever, it's not fun...

Hope you get better Glass  . If your parents wake you up all the time you can either lock your door, or start crying and whining that you don't feel good. I prefer the first choice but the second choice is also good. ;)

There are lots of different things that happen to me when delerious, the one that happens every time is sort of that I'm trying to escape a swirling flashing black void whilst being both in and outside of my body. The other things include raving, usually something is chasing me (Teacups for example...seriously). Theres also the feeling you get that you are awake but can't move...
