I have no idea what you guys are talking about. Apparently I'm not a real American. Today I went to a Korean grocery store - it seemed like the best way to celebrate independence day in this "tossed salad" country.
Edit: Just googled it. Yeah, definitely have never heard of it. It's younger than I am, and my parents are from NYC, so if we weren't going to get ice cream, it was real Italian ices...

It is hard to find. I have eaten it at Disneyland, Balboa Park (San Diego, CA) and vague recollection of a Poke restaurant near Costa Mesa, CA but I could be wrong about this one. I find it more refreshing than ice cream on a hot day. Italian Ice is a good choice too.
Supposedly, this is a recipe for Dole Whip "just like Disney", but I have not tried it:
