Apparently, the auto-removal of Tapatalk a few years ago left a ton of remnants. I noticed tonight when testing on my phone switching from mobile style to regular style that the Tapatalk popup came up on the phone suggesting that I install Tapatalk...
This smurftastic app is littered throughout the files. I am now surgically removing all references and lines of code left over from Tapatalk, and it may be rather arduous. My goal is to do it in small steps in an attempt to
not break the site.
If something that used to work great suddenly does not work anymore, please let me know.
In the unlikely but possible event that the site stops working entirely (and it does not come back in a few minutes), please reach out via other channels to let me know.
Thanks,
BlueETA: Removing Tapatalk is requiring detailed surgery in a lot of the back-end files. Each edit that I make requires clearing the cache each time to verify the change worked
and did not cause damage.
What this means is - the forums will load slower than usual for a while. Thank you for your patience while thoroughly extract Tapatalk from the forum.
ETA2: You may also get logged out and need to log back in during this process... nothing to worry about.
ETA3: Tapatalk has been eradicated. I actually needed to do some delicate surgery in the database to completely get rid of it.
