Eo, I'm sorry you can't please everyone, but that's always the way that it's always going to be. People have different opinions about different things, and not everyone is always going to be happy. But that's a risk you take when you post.

I'm sorry that your signature was removed. If it was 250 by 75 pixels, then obviously it's not Paola's fault. If you had something else besides just the sig that she made you in your signature, then that would be the problem.

If you posted a poem in the art gallery and no one has replied to it, and yet it has 26 views, then at least people have looked at it, right? It's not like they're completely ignoring it altogether. Sometimes people just don't have anything to say. You can't force a person to post on your thread. Don't get mad because no one is posting, because no one is obligated to do so.

Please think before you rant.

I completely agree with every aspect of that post. Don't get mad because nobody replies to you- it happens to everyone. It's selfish to go on and on and on about it, because you're not the only one in the world who's gone through it. And you have no right to blame Paola like that- if you had a problem with it in the first place, you should of gone to her and asked politely if it could be a bit smaller. Not announce it unkindly to the rest of the site- although it wasn't Paolo's signature that put you over the limit (read last part of post), it still was not right or kind to say what you did.

Oh, and you had your PPTAAC trophy in your signature, which is almost positively what put it over the limit. And do not blame me for that, as I made it, because I have no control over the size of your original signature.

Aahh, that would explain it. And yes, this rant *was* selfish. Rants are made to vent steam, not to be positive o.O I wasn't blaming Paola, I was blaming whoever removed it.

By the way- I actually DO have a right to post a rant. It's called Freedom Of Speech.

Try using poetic devices. I find a title with alliteration in it is a lot more eye-catching than a normal, boring title. :)

O_o. Eo, why blame whoever removed it? As you had two things in your signature (the trophy and the signature), it was perfectly justified, so why blame who removed it? O_O

Slow down, back up and lets start at the begining.

Quote:
Seriously. What does it TAKE? I put up a poem on the PPT art gallery. 26 or so views and no one responds. This wouldn't bug me as much if I hadn't put "Please RESPOND" in the title! GAAR! Do I have to offer 100,000 Neopoints to responders?

This is the curse of the gallery. I often get quite a few views on my artwork, but very few responses. I like to think it as a "Look but not too hard" kinda thing. People just give it a glance and if it really interests them, MAYBE they'll post, and even then... *shrug*.
It's not that people aren't responding, but artwork is a hard thing to judge and many people haven't a clue as to what to say in a response. Often I find myself torn over a lack of words before I just turn away and give up.
People read, people view. But responses to artwork can be a very personal thing; which can turn into a very difficult thing to put into words. Poetry i've found is very good at evoking such an emotion, same with stories. The pictures on the gallery... *shrug* maybe not so much, but the emotions still there. I think it's easier to comment on a picture simply because it's all there. But a story or a poem forces you to think more to (in my mind) respond properly.

Quote:
On the Word Games and Contests board, you have to make the winners billionaires before more than four people will enter! I was giving a 10k prize to the winner of my set contest. And what happens? When they win, nobody posts their username because they are afraid to respond to my posts because then I'll think "Oh good, people pay attention to me" and be happy! AAAARG!

I offered what seemed to be a lower rate and then some. I offered an art trade on the set contests i've done, and a lower amount of NP. I got... something like 7 entries. And i'm ok with that. Often the topics chosen can be quite difficult to judge, or hard for people to do. Mine was very specific this time round, so I think that scared some people off. But i'm happy with the results.
You don't need to be a billionaire, (i'm certainly not!), you just need to know how to word things and maybe offer some sort of incentive off of the site. If you write poetry, how about a epic ballad about the person who won the contest? *shrug* That sort of thing.

Quote:
If you're gonna make me a set or something, don't make it too big for the rules. If you're in a set contest, you ought to know how big the limit is- not to insult your artwork, Paola. What bugs me is I've seen people with sets the same size who DON'T get their sets taken away.

Now see, this is what throws me off kilter. If you see someone whose breaking the sig/av limit. Why not report them? I seriously doubt for some reason that having the "Your sig/av is too big" bit ever bothered you before it was done to yourself. And it's quite easy to take off, you go into profile and erase it. Rather then make a huge stink about the issue, why not just solve it quickly without pointing it out to everyone? I honestly wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't pointed it out.
If you had a question as to WHY it was taken out, how about you kindly PM an admin, or a mod. Criticising the way we do our jobs isn't the best way to resolve an issue. I'm sorry, but I really... *sighs* I really feel that there was a better way to resolve this issue.
If your sig isn't too big, put it back in. Just don't add the PPTAAC thing and you should be fine.

Why even bother throwing that phrase around? Did anyone even attempt to tell you that you weren't allowed to be upset about things? Not as far as I can tell, anyway.
Tactfulness never hurts.

I've often posted stuff with 0 comments.
*shrugs*
I've also looked at stuff and then not commented, because I don't really know what to say that would be a worthwhile evaluation of it.

it might sound mean but heres a reality check:

people will do whatever they want.

if they dont want to post, they wont. If they dont read it at all, oh well they dont have interest. Thats life. Not everyone is going to stop and make a comment. members of ppt have the choice to post comments on whatever they want. posting a rant complaining to them isnt going to help. if anything, this is making you look like a cry baby. If you wanted to be mature about the matter, just suck it up and deal with it. Thats part of growing up.

if this sounds harsh, welcome to reality. somethings just cant be sugar coated all the time.

as for the signature. you could have nicely told the artist that the item was too large and asked them to fix it unstead of yelling at everyone else about it.

try reading the rules and being respectful to the mods. they are just doing their jobs and it is not an easy job to have. If you have a problem with them, take it up with Jim. Just don't complain to us about it.

She wasn't yelling at us. I think she has a perfectly good reason for thiss "rant".

For a set to be removed someone has to notice that it's over the size limits, and while we the staff pride ourselves on being the best of the best, we aren't. Quit your complaining and PM a mod if you see a set over the limit, do I look I can be 1741 places at once, because I cant!!!

Eo, this is a forum, not a country. You do NOT have freedom of speech on here. If you say something inappropiate, it can and will be removed. You agreed to our Terms and Conditions upon signing up.

Moderators were hired to do just that: MODERATE. They were not hired to overlook rules for yours or anyone else's convenience. If your signature was removed, it was because you were too incompetent to check that it fit our guidelines. To have the audacity to insult staff members who dedicate their work and free time for the members of this forum is downright disrespectful. If you are so indignant that other users have signatures that are too big, consider that moderators are NOT omniscient and courteously PM one to take care of it.

Nobody in the Ye Olde PPT Gallery is required to reply to or even read your posts. If you do not feel that your artistic needs are being met, then post your works elsewhere. There are many online communities that are based upon getting feedback for your work. This isn't one of them.

If you have any further questions concerning our rules and regulations, read them first and then feel free to PM me.
