Before I say anything else, yes, this IS based off the episode of Star Trek by the same name. But no Kirk, thank god XD
In the far future, a colony of humans on a small planet (Named Miri) were living quite happily, in an environment practically identical to that of Earth's. Some of the scientists were developing a sort of magic tonic- a medicine which would slow the aging process extremely so that every century aged a person only one month. But they were too greedy to check for the consequences, and the first batch of the tonic turned out wrong, horribly wrong. It produced a sort of virus which spread to every inhabitant of that planet, child and adult. The virus did nothing to hurt them at all- to the children. Yet it seemed everyone who went into puberty or was an adult was infected with a sort of plague, black-blue scabs appearing on their body.
In days the infected would become easily angered, attacking without provocation, and would lose any patience they had. Soon the adults began killing eachother. The children hid, frightened of what was happening to their parents and the other grown-ups. They did not see that those adults who were not killed by other adults developed a crust all over their face and died. Then the children were left alone.
The virus, however, did leave the desired trait of the immortality potion- and the children hardly aged at all. They began to act like wild creatures, forming into a tribe. There was still food, and they all had skills nesscessary to retrieve it... yet they still acted like small children.
Now the food is running out, after three hundred years. The children who reached puberty were transformed into monsters, which the kids fear, and do not know are kids a little older than some of them.
They have to figure out some sort of solution.
