I'd like to learn more about making homemade movies.

I LOVE acting, and making silly movies with my friends.... but they are ALL simply somebody with a video camera hitting start and stop when necessary. They are nothing special....

...I see these homemade videos people make where they've edited scenes, easily take out the junk they dont need, edit in audio or music, they can add words onto the screen.... all that nifty stuff. I don't mean any professional-grade quality, I just mean basic editing jobs to make a movie one could put on the internet. I've ALWAYS wanted to have the capabilities to make these types of movies....

... can somebody give me some information on this subject? Does it require a specific type of camera to hook up to my computer? (i have a video camera, but i dont know if its the type I would need).... are there things I may do over the TV screen, or is it pretty much computer-based? Are there programs I can simply download for these capabilities? Or do I have to buy Windows Video Editor or somethign of that sort? Can i simply buy it at my local Target Store?

I would really appreciate any information somebody can give me so I can make some fun movies this year!

I think what you want is a basic video editor program.

I cant make any recomendations, since Im not into video making, but Im sure you can get one cheap or free.

I know at a lot of libraries they have video editing equipment, and I'm sure there are books and people there to help. Why not check it out?

I use a web camera and Windows Movie Maker when I want to make short videos for things. It's pretty easy for me to figure out on my own.

Windows Movie Maker or Sony Vegas are the way to go! (MM comes with most Windows software (XP) and Vegas can be bought... or downloaded)

I usually make music videos with MM (Vegas is more complex.. and not as good in my opinion) and my dad has used video footage from a holiday we had two years ago from our digital camera to make a DVD out of it.

So yeah, MM and just read your video camera manual to find out how it connects to the PC.

If you're working with actual film film, you can do some simple cut editing if you have two VCRs set up, one feeding into the other. Simply press the record button on the VCR with the blank tape when the one with the actual footage is on a scene you want.
