What is up with this new stuff?
It irks me hardcore. The re-designed petpets, so many ads, commercials, console games, and eurgh. So lame. What else has changed since I've been gone? (About a year.)

The fact is Neopets is an ever growing and changing site. Just because you have been away, it doesn't mean Neo will stand still.
Most of the new stuff are improvements and have come on gradually over the last 12months. For someone being away for so long, it may be a shock, but for those of us that are on Neo regularly, the changes aren't so bad (except for the eyesore of the games room).
If I was you, I would just wander through Neopia and have a look and get used to all the changes. You might be surprised at all the good stuff.
