A Quicker Way To Lace UP Hi-Tops?

#1 Post by thesockoverlord »

does anyone here know a way to lace up shoes faster? I wear my converse hi-tops nearly everyday(because i LUFF 'EM!) but it really annoys me having to spend about six minutes every morning JUST lacing up and tying them. This could get really annoying next semester, when i have PE, so anyone have any tips on how to spend less time on this? I only have to go down about four 'layers' but yeah...Please help! lol

When I wore converse, I just leave them laced up, but just untied, then I just slip them on and just tie them. It's easy, you don't have to unlace them every time. If your feet are big just pull them a little to loosen them up, and tighten them when you have them on. It's a lot easier then unlacing then lacing them back up every time. :)

Ditto. I leave the top holes alone so I don't have to lace up so much every time.

hmm...*tries* ow. that didn't work lol...i probably just wear them to tight-ly to begin with...oh well, i can now lace both sides at once, i'm just so coordinated :P

Weird...? How can you do that, lol. I find it extremely uncomfortable...but then again, i'm also the girl who trips if her socks don't match, LOL!

When I had my boots (well, I still do have the wonderful little fellows around here somewhere, but for the life of me I can't find them) my laces were Faaaaaar to long, and rather than cut them shorter (That's for people who don't cling onto something no matter how much it doesn't fit!) I just tied them off around my Ankles.

... Run on sentence short, tried tying the lace around your ankle at all?

Do you have the really high ones, or the standard height ones? I have these chucks and i only lace them that high normally, and if the laces are annoying me tie them round my ankle.

However this week i've been lacing them to the top to give my ankle extra support and i only re-laced the top one, but could get my foot in and out with them still laced because the laces are sooooo long.

But if you have the really high ones, i saw someone on the tram wearing them today, and they'd only laced a couple of the loops and had tied the lace around the shoe... kinda hard to describe...

For interest, i've just found this site, which has 33 lacing styles!! http://www.shoe-lacing.com/shoelace/lacingmethods.htm

well with my standard ones the laces are long enough to just loosen them enough to get my foot in and out and then just tighten them. no re-lacing required.

Thanks for the link. I didn't realize there was so many methods!

And I was talking about my chucks regarding leaving the top holes alone.

i have a pair of lace up combat boots since my dad likes to take me bush wacking so that we can go shooting or I can go have fun with my longbow at the archery range, and I know how you feel having to spend ages lacing them up. My boots stop just some inches below my knee(my dad made me get proper army type ones) so it takes forever.
I find that if I jsut leave them laced but leave out lacing a few certain holes aswell as the top ones, then I can put on my boots and get out of the house at lightning speeds. But then again I like to always get ready at lightning speeds since it just makes things more fun.....

I have my chucks laced loosley so I can slip them on without undoing any of the laces, obvious still undoing the knot.
The only problem with this is that because there are laced so loosely, they have a tendency to frequently come untied at the most inconvenient intervals during the day.
