Something Strange.....(Google)
Yes I'm back, whoohoo.
More important matters. Does anyone know why Google.com is being directed to Google.ca? At the same time, people seem to be having trouble with their G-Mail. What is going on?

That's odd.
I live in Canada and it's doing it but I don't see why it's doing it for someone in the US. I wonder what's up.
But as BLK Mage said, there is a button at the bottom which says "Go to Google.com". Just click that for the meantime.

Precisely. The search engine looks at the country in which the IP address is registered.
But on the google.ca page there should be a link to the google.com page. To get to it you must have cookies enabled for the google.com domain. Then when you type in google.com it shouldn't redirect to the ca site.

But my ISP isn't Canadian. And that wouldn't explain the G-mail issues some people have been having.
Hmmm. *Maybe* your ISP resells a Canadian ISP's service (unlikely). OR maybe the default search site isn't based on IP address, but I don't see what else it could be based on, except where cookies are involved. A truly perplexing puzzle...
As for Gmail issues, I know nothing, not using Gmail (can you believe I never got an invite?)

if you really need .com, i tihnk firefox start is .com
No, it's the same default search as going to google.com and getting redirected to your own country's google search. Or in the case of Dranzer, to Canada.

To change the google site your toolbar uses click 'Options' on the toolbar, and then click the 'Search' tab. Down the bottom of the box it says 'Use Google Site' and you can pick any.
No need to thank me
Edit: Speling. Also added more hilarity.
