Well, for starters, there is no knowing whether the parents are innocent or not. It's always a possibility that they killed their own child, and tried to frame someone.
No one knows. The difference is that I assume, if they're freaking out and no suspicion has fallen on them yet, that they're innocent. I guess "innocent until proven guilty" is not only a quirk of the American justice system, it's also a quirk of my personal attitude.
And as to the other part, go back and read the part where I said they made a mistake.
They did make a mistake, I was merely confuzzled about this part:

who really wants to wake their kids up so they can take them downstairs and put them into the care of a stranger?
They could have took the child to dinner with them, too. There are 100 ways this could have been prevented.
Sad to say, there isn't 100 ways this could have been worse. :/

I think its fair to say that you have been warned innumerous times. An administrator has even stepped in and told you all to stop. If this trend of conversation continues this thread WILL be locked.
Everyone has stated and restated their points about what they think the parents were doing/feeling/thinking. If there is nothing more to discuss but this, than there is no point in this thread staying active. Obviously no one has any new points and would rather run around in circles ignoring the warning of the moderating staff.
I am becoming increasingly disbelieving of your incapability to listen when an administrator tells you to knock it off.
I'm not sure what you mean. The administrators were first warning due to flames and a general bad attitude, then due to offtopicness.
I believe that parental responsability is on topic, do you disagree?
Feel free to get an admin to come and clear this up, but I believe we're on topic.
Also; you're breaking a whole new rule alltogether... Back-seat moderating.
